How Do We Ship Bases

Chair bases average around 200 pounds. This is too heavy for UPS and similar services. We always use a Common Carrier Freight Company to ship the bases we do not replace ourselves.

We ship most bases in plywood crates. This helps ensure that they will get to you intact and makes it very easy for you to pack up your old base for return to us.

The first thing to do is determine how the base is going to get into your office. Do you have a loading dock in the building? if the answer is yes, then shipping the base is very easy and relatively inexpensive. If not, there are a few decisions that need to be made.

The least expensive way to get the base to you would be for you to pick it up at the local freight depot and to return the old base there. Obviously you need a vehicle which can handle a 3 foot wide by 3 foot tall by 3 foot deep plywood crate, weighing over 200 pounds. Once at your office, the base can be removed from the crate to be moved inside A sturdy hand truck or furniture dolly is sufficient for the job.

If you cannot pick it up, we can arrange for the base to be transferred to a smaller truck with a lift gate. They can safely remove the base from the truck and move it into your office. The opposite arrangements have to be made for returning your base to us. This step can add up to $150.00 or more to the shipping cost of the base.

As always, we recommend that you contact us if you have any questions.
